Code Geass Meet #4 - Mad Hatters Tea Party
I held a little Code Geass meet up last weekend. Here's some photos by my friends Neil and Mark!
I took a few photos myself but haven't uploaded them yet, I'll make another post when that's done!

DIY Photography Photobooths and Backdrops
If you're a poor photographer like me, all you have at your disposal is the stuff around your own home. And maybe a few things from a cheap gift store like the Reject Shop or Daiso. You can make cool backgrounds for your portrait photography to hide ugly walls and doors or distracting furniture! Wrapping paper, fabric, blankets, crepe paper, streamers, tinsel, cardboard, curtains, newspaper and anything else you can think of can be used to set up a studio feel in your house! If you like to do photos of small things (eg: figurines) as I do, then even little scraps of textured/colored paper and fabric can be useful!
Here are some great tutorials to give you ideas!

As an example, here is a background made from a scarf!
This image was made by loading up a photo from the web on my TV (via my laptop) and placing the figure in front. I used some blue cellophane over flash/lamps/torches to cast blue light to match the background image.

Christmas Card design for the boss
Long time no post! Sorry I have neglected you, my design blog!
These days I'm working 2 jobs, so life is pretty busy. One of my jobs is as a graphic designer for an oil company. Most of the the stuff I do is pretty boring but occasionally I get to do fun things that let me get a bit more creative. This is a Christmas card that I'm designing for my boss to send out. I used free vectors from around the web to get it done quicker. I hope to improve my Adobe Illustrator skills and be able to draw more complex shapes like these myself though! I did vector the angel, but it was based on an image I found on the web.

Slinkachu - miniature installation photography
I love photography and toys and photography of toys! I've stumbled across some wonderful pictures on the following blog/website.

With the use of miniatures as street art installations, these great pictures are created! When you see the context shots they are so tiny in the scale of the rest of the world.

Photography - Creating Sunlight Effects in the Studio
Lighting has never been my forte and I can never really wrap my head around how it will work until I see it in action. I like to experiment with household items like desk lamps and torches in my figurine photos. Although I'd never really thought about how you could fake sunlight until I stumbled across this image/tutorial.
Basically using some lamps and paper/cardboard you can create your own sunlight. Pretty cool! Check out the video on how this image was made at the link below.

Learn Typography
A nice little website about typography! Has some really good references for all those finer details that you tend to forget. The information is short and too the point and certainly not as boring as your graphic design text books that they try to make you buy in university. (but never use because TLDR;!!)
